"When you are in pain, the world stops and I listen.”
"When you are in pain, the world stops and I listen.”
What sets me apart...
My goal is for you to feel seen, heard, and valued in our work together so that you can examine your life and make the meaningful changes that will not only alleviate symptoms, but also increase well-being. In this collaborative environment, we can make full use of my years of education, training, and experience so that you can implement the changes you want to make.
We will go beyond the basics of talk therapy in order to work toward a deeper integration of what you know in your mind with what you know and feel at a gut level so that you can take the actions needed to get you moving in your desired direction. To this end, we will use research-based tools, activities, and interventions to create unique, challenging, and healing experiences for you. You will receive individualized treatments and intervention; this is not a cookie-cutter experience.
I am dedicated to walking with you as a fellow human being. I have specialized knowledge, experiences, and skills, but there is no story like your story and only you are the expert on you. The most amazing people walk through my therapy door, and even after all these years, I am in awe of the strength that human beings bring to the proverbial table.
I work diligently to stay current in my field so that I am able to provide you with research-based interventions that can support you as you strive to be who you want to be. In addition to formal training, I regularly participate in professional development, peer supervision, and I read relevant research in academic journals and books. It is very important to me to continually broaden and deepen my knowledge base so that I can provide you with the tools that are proven to contribute to your well-being.
I am especially interested in mindfulness and movement and their relationship to well-being. I incorporate individually-tailored meditations and activities as evidence-based treatments for my clients.
I specialize in working with people with many presenting concerns, including anxiety, relationship dissatisfaction, sports and professional performance, returning to sport after a setback, and previous traumatic experiences. I am able to provide a depth of knowledge and resources to benefit you and your unique concerns.
I have advanced training in marriage and family therapy and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, supervised by Dr. Amir Abbassi. This means that I have taken extra courses and tests specific to working with family systems. Couple therapy provides a unique opportunity for partners to examine their relationship and decide how they want it to function. We will work to guide you toward safer, more secure functioning relationships.
I have completed Level 1 and 2 training in Gottman Method Couple Therapy and am happy to bring the wealth of knowledge from their tireless research to your relationship. I have also completed Level 1 training in the Psychobiological Approach to Couple's Therapy (PACT). It is a privilege to share the groundbreaking work with you.
